8 Port USB Hub
8 Port USB Hub
Big networks need hubs that can handle large numbers of devices to be connected. An 8 port USB hub is a good size to get if you’re planning to use it for office use or at home with a number of users and devices connected. You could of course, attach a hub to another hub for expansion but investing in a decent sized hub should give you all the connectivity you need for a medium sized network.
From the time when USB (Universal Serial Bus) was first developed, it was destined for great things. Almost 20 years on and the USB has brought a new level of connectivity to tens of different devices including the portable mp3 player, external memory drive, USB network hub and a whole lot of other peripherals.
As it has gradually become a common way to connect devices to computers, it’s no surprise that more people are using USB type hubs and with most devices relying on USB, there’s no better way to share them than via an 8 port USB hub. While it may first sound excessive, it allows for greater ease of access to anything from printers to scanners and even digital cameras.
Even for a small home network of three computers, an 8 port USB hub is extremely handy when computers are not all situated in one room. If you find yourself lugging devices back and fourth from room to room because you’re sharing devices with other family members you need a USB hub. Not will you not have to worry about connecting and disconnecting the USB cord every time someone needs to use the printer, you will help prevent wear of the connector.
Some individuals may need a USB hub with a number of ports all too themselves without connecting to other users. Hubs aren’t just designed for networking, they can be used by a single laptop or desktop to increase the number of USB ports one has. If you have a fairly old computer, you may have very few USB ports which isn’t very good when you consider that so practically all devices including the mouse uses this port. Unplugging and plugging devices can be annoying. Of course you don’t necessarily need 8 ports, perhaps 2 to 4 is enough for you.
