In producing the X10 Mini Pro, Sony Ericsson have created the smallest QWERTY smartphone ever!
In producing the X10 Mini Pro, Sony Ericsson have created the smallest QWERTY smartphone ever; it has a very colourful high resolution display, a full slide out QWERTY keyboard and fantastic support for messaging and e-mail. Sony Ericsson has used the TimeScape overlay for social network integration and they are running the Android 1.6 operating system, and with Android come loads of Google goodies including the online Android Market. The Japanese/Swedish alliance has installed a number of media items like the digital camera, multimedia hub and FM Radio.
The main chassis of the phone is quite similar to that of the X10 Mini, only with a few extra millimetres here and there to accommodate for the QWERTY keyboard which has been mounted onto a slider for quick accessibility. The 2.55inch touch screen has been given an accelerometer so you can switch to landscape mode; this mode flips the user interface to a widescreen perspective leading to an easier typing experience with the keyboard and a better web surfing experience with more field space for page rendering. The TimeScape interface looks very pretty on the QVGA screen; with rich shades of blue and deep colours painting a multi-layered facia over the top of the efficient Android OS, the phone runs very smoothly and seamlessly hops from page-to-page, the resistive touch screen is very responsive, Sony Ericsson have clearly left out capacitive technology as trying to fit more than one digit on the screen would be a very tight unless you are a six year ballerina. Another great feature is the four-corner menu system which enables you to customize what widgets you can access direct from your home screen. Sony Ericsson has given X10 Mini Pro users the opportunity to expand there memory space up to 16GB, this is great as the phone has a very good 5 mega pixel digital camera; it comes with both auto focus and flash and its very capable of high resolution video recordings, all of your captured material can be uploaded to your online networks and to YouTube with full mobile integration. The advanced music player is well serviced with the PlayNow Arena for downloadable music and it is equipped with a TrackID feature and Album Art.
As with all Android devices the X10 Mini Pro utilises the WebKit browser, it sports easy to use pan and zoom controls and allows you to bookmark your favourite web pages, so basically they have tried to make it function as a desktop browser would. The browser is supported by 3G and Wi Fi connections with both delivering high speed connection to the web; they are reliable and very consistent. Thanks to the intuitive TimeScape the X10 Mini Pro is optimised for social networking, all of your communications across your social networks and even e-mail accounts are collected and displayed in one easy to view stream, sites including Twitter, Facebook and MySpace are all compatible. Sony Ericsson have also built on the great messaging support provided by the QWERTY keyboard; you have full e-mail and IM coverage with all of the most popular providers accounted for, you can manage your accounts view inboxes and read attachments. Navigation services have been looked at too, A-GPS, Google Maps and WisePilot will always keep you on the right road and the phones USB connection mean you will have no problem in synchronizing your phone to your PC. A 3.5mm jack lets you plug in and listen with your favourite headphones and Bluetooth technology enables wireless connections with compatible devices.
Owners of the Xperia X10 Mini Pro will not be disappointed; the user experience is similar to the experience you get from the X10 Mini and the phone is a delight to handle, a host of SNS and messaging technologies keep you in touch friends while the turbo web connections keep you in touch with the world. This phone is certainly worth a look and would suite younger buyers in both working class and business quarters.
