The cute, powerful HTC HD Mini uses the Windows Mobile 6.5 operating system which has been decorated with HTC’s very own Sense overlay. The HD Mini boasts much of the same technology as the Legend and Desire, with the social network integration and communications support. A digital camera accompanies a Windows multimedia hub and the web browser is fully serviced by speedy web connectivity.
HTC have kept the design of the phone to a minimum, they have maintained a futuristic and luxurious appearance while keeping the handset compact, and the end product looks superb. That same 600MHz processor from the Legend has been thrown in for added speed when web browsing and running applications, HTC have also included there Sense technology which gives the HD Mini a similar look and feel to previous handsets, it has that same professional functionality and fun undertone and alot of the phones functions are the same too. The device benefits from a wonderful 3.2 inch capacitive touch screen; its responsive and the HVGA resolution highlights the bright characteristics of the phones user interface, there is a microSD slot supporting upgrades up to 32GB and the Bluetooth technology has been enhanced to allow quicker, stronger wireless connectivity with other compatible devices.
By rearranging the phones main tabs and surfacing your favourite or most used widgets to the home screen you can create your own personal HD Mini experience; with the People widget you can group together friends and family members so they are easy to find and communicate with them as you wish with e-mailing, various forms of messaging and of course by phone call, there are also widgets representing your social networks, multimedia centre and your calendar. A Twitter client has been pre-loaded into the devices software so you can keep up to date with your friends real time tweets, Facebook has also been integrated into the system, you can fully manage your Facebook account and check out the latest status updates, send and receive messages, share links and read wall posts. The HTC HD Mini supports an Opera web browser which has been backed up by Wi Fi and 3G connectivity; signal strength is brilliant and the connection is glitch-less and impeccable. The Opera browser gives you multi touch control and if you make use of the Internet Explorer backup browser you are gifted with Flash compatibility.
The phone has a built-in 5 mega pixel digital camera which has wide screen capture and auto focus, video can be captured in high resolution at 30 frames per second and the multimedia player supports tons of different formats for video and audio files. As with most phones a 3.5mm jack allows you to plug in your favourite pair of headphones for private listening and the USB port allows you to synchronize to your PC and create a suite for downloading music and other content.
Overall the HTC HD Mini is an unassuming little device which is powerful, efficient and practical, its size makes it very pocketable, its various features and applications make it very hard to put down and its professional appearance makes it desirable, HTC have hit the spot again with the delightful HD Mini.
